ROBOTS

Disco Robots are interactive performance machines built for dancefloors, festivals and strange places.

They move, they light up, they react. Part robot, part visual system, part spectacle.

WHAT THEY CAN DO

Move

Shoulders, elbows, grippers, neck, ears and antennae give the robots a broad range of expressive movement.

Light up

LED eyes, chest displays and other addressable lighting are integrated into the bodies.

React

Movement and lighting can respond to music, sequencing, operator control and audience interaction.

Connect

Networked control allows movement, lighting and visuals to operate as parts of the same show system.

Evolve

The robots are modular machines. Hardware, lighting, software and interactions continue to develop as the project grows.

DISCO ROBOTS

THE PROJECT

Disco Robots began as an attempt to build the sort of machines I wanted to see on a dancefloor.

I don’t try to hide every nut, bolt and joint. The visible mechanics are part of what gives the robots their character.

The project combines things I have been working with for decades: live visuals, coding, electronics, lighting, fabrication and performance.
